Technology DataCove IM monitors Instant Messaging traffic across your LAN. Packets are captured and analyzed by DataCove's proprietary Packet Analysis Engine. DataCove's "Overview" reporting summarizes IM communications by account or contact.
- Records current IM and total time and duration. Also provides long-term monitoring.
- Counts online local accounts and offline local accounts.
- Displays respective statistics for current monitoring and total monitoring.
- Provides statistics for both global network and specific accounts.
- Archives IM communications into database for future search and retrieval.
- Manage via Remote Access to master console using existing Microsoft Protocols.

When installed on a network the DataCove IM appliance monitors all traffic on your LAN through the following methods: Connection by Port Mirror on a Managed Switch: Network Administrators that have more advanced LAN equipment are able to directly monitor all IM traffic through switch-based port mirroring.
Connection through LAN TAP device: For smaller networks, DataCove IM ships with a LAN TAP that is directly connected into your network. A LAN TAP is a small passive device that "sniffs" all data flowing in and out of your network. This allows DataCove IM to see all IM traffic regardless of destination. A LAN TAP is NOT A POINT OF FAILURE due to its passive nature. It is quite literally invisible on your network.
